Daphne is the founder and host of the Trans-plaining Podcast, where honest conversations, lived experiences, and curiosity come together to explore transgender issues, identity, mental health, and the people behind the stories.
Originally from a small, deeply religious town in the southern Arizona desert, Daphne spent much of her early career working construction and electrical jobs before eventually managing crews across the country as a superintendent. Along the way, she also owned and operated a farm, developing a reputation for being able to step into unfamiliar situations, figure things out quickly, and connect with people from all walks of life.
A two-year stint working in Scotland in 2008 helped shape her perspective on the world — teaching her the value of open-mindedness, embracing differences, and, perhaps most importantly, that cold weather is vastly superior to desert heat.
After coming out in 2022, life took a dramatic turn that eventually led her from Idaho to Oregon. Looking for community, she joined a women’s professional football team, only to tear her ACL before ever playing a game. Instead of walking away, she picked up a camera, stepped into broadcasting and commentary for the team, and discovered a natural passion for storytelling and media.
The idea for Trans-plaining came during one of the hardest periods of her life. While in the hospital, a single podcast episode sparked the realization that these were the kinds of conversations she wanted to create herself — thoughtful, real, and accessible. With a background in tech, media equipment already in hand, and a drive to help people feel seen and understood, the podcast was born.
Outside the studio, Daphne still loves sports, photography, karaoke, and just about anything competitive. She’s known for an infectious laugh, a curiosity about people and cultures, and a genuine love for hearing others’ experiences and perspectives.

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Bear is a Southwest Washington native whose path has ranged from CMA nursing to competitive powerlifting in the Washington State United Powerlifting Association. These days, he channels that same passion into the kitchen as a talented saucier and culinary creative.
Outside of work, Bear’s interests span just about everything — from PC gaming, Magic: The Gathering, and Dungeons & Dragons to karaoke, poker, bar games, music, documentaries, graffiti art, and exploring Mafioso history. He’s also a fan of craft beer pairings and building PCs.
While his media and tech experience mostly comes from TikTok and computer building, Bear has long dreamed of being part of a variety-style podcast. Joining the Trans-plaining team gave him the chance to do exactly that, and he’s excited to keep learning, growing, and joining Daphne for conversations and interviews along the way.
